Yeah it really is a wonderful day outside in Chicago today…..NOT. Yesterday we started to get some snow and it looked beautiful and all. But I just had to step out in it. I get out there and it was not snow at all but little ice drops that was falling from the sky. I was getting hit all in the face and was ready to cry from the stinging. Then I go get a hat and when I came out from the store, and I was not even in there five minutes, it was raining. Remember that I was talking about how quick Chicago weather can change well it did it yesterday. I would have blogged this yesterday but I was out and about all day so it was not going to happen anytime soon all day.
So I am walking in this mess and I get to where I’m going. I get there and the rain still has not stopped. So we are sitting at a relatives house and he’s playing video games and I am talking and learning how to make dinner rolls from scratch….yea I know I’m not cooking anymore but I still wanted to know how to do it. But now I’m done with the rolls and decide that I am getting sleepy so I go in the back room to take a nap and him and my little cousin is having a ball playing this darn video game. So I’m napping and when I wake up I’m ready to go home and sleep. So I ruin his video game and tell him that I am ready to go home. We start down the stairs and get to the door and notice that there is ice all on the door and it is making the door heavy to open. And when the door do open it flies open and tries to stay open. So I look down at the ground and see that it is all ice. So we walk from the back of the house to the front to look on the street only to notice that the all up and down the house is ice the rain had froze on all the houses and gates so they are all just shiny and wet looking ( looks like houses of ice). And the street is all iced out. The cars that are driving on this ice are just sliding along on top of the ice. So we decided that it would be a better idea for us to take the bus home and trust someone else with our lives and just in case the bus does hit someone or something we had room to move. So we are getting on the bus and I almost slip getting on the bus…..$2 TO GET ON CHICAGO’S BUSES ONE WAY. And we had to catch two buses. But now we are where we need to be and getting off the bus and we decided to go in the store and get some things that we might need so that just in case, we don’t have to come back out in this stuff again. And we quickly find out that we are not slipping anymore. All cause the store owner had put salt out all around his store. And we were so happy for that. So now while leaving the store we start to feel sad cause we know that not to many people have come out and put their salt down yet. And just as we thought they had not yet. We get home and almost slip on the stairs. But we get in and no sooner than I could take my shoes off he was outside put loads of salt out so the if we did have to walk out again we didn’t slip and that anyone walking on our property wouldn’t slip also.
Yes yesterday was a beautiful day. It was a normal day in Chicago. It don’t get any better than that. Or wetter or colder. But heck it don’t get any colder than today either.
